Welcome to the RISE Torfaen web site. It contains lots of information about learning opportunities, partner organisations, family events and much more. Links will take you to many partner web sites also where you can access even more information.

We hope that you will find the site informative and easy to use, and that you will come back regularly to get up to the minute information.

The site is split into 4 main sections Learning Action Centres; Satellites; Learning Development Officers and News and Events. Access to these sections can be gained by clicking on the appropriate coloured block to the left of the screen. The lower block contains a link to the main Learn with RISE web site.

RISE is a new project that provides learning opportunities to all Torfaen residents aged 16 years +. We work with a range of partners to provide courses for everyone and at all levels, many of which are free of charge. Our courses include leisure time learning programmes such as creative studies, languages and health & self, and work related courses including, I.T., business courses, health and safety and essential skills to name a few. RISE has 31 learning centres across Torfaen allowing our courses to be delivered in the community, and at least one of which is near to you. Our centres provide an informal, friendly and supportive learning environment including state-of-the-art computer equipment. A map has been provided to assist you in locating your nearest centre.

RISE Learning Development Officers are available to offer help and guidance to all learners and potential learners. Learner advocates from your peer group are also available to help and assist you, please contact a Learning Development Officer for further details.

RISE is different to other learning networks because we encourage learners to have their say in what they learn, how they learn and when they learn by developing the role of learner advocate. This site provides full details of how you can get involved as a Learning Advocate.
